Visit Museum Schoenenkwartier Waalwijk

As a stage, workshop, study center and laboratory, we connect the rich past of the leather and shoe industry to the future. With this, we occupy a special position in the cultural landscape, in the heart of Waalwijk. Housed in a monumental building by Alexander Kropholler, accessible for the disabled and named Public Building of the Year in 2022. We connect heritage and technology with fashion, design and innovation. This includes tours, meeting and lecture opportunities as well as workshops. These are easily accessible and offered under expert guidance.

  5. Connects past with sustainable future

Do

In our building ensemble you will find some 13,000 shoes, various permanent and temporary exhibitions, a knowledge center with research library, workshop space and auditorium, a museum café and laboratories for design and prototyping. Admire the museum collection and wander through the various spaces, through which both interested public and professionals determine their own path and pace.

Special for all ages

Shoes are part of everyone's identity. For young and old, and for rich and poor. Therefore, besides looking and learning, we are also about participation and awareness. The classic shoe and leather industry was very polluting. Partly because of this, innovative, sustainable materials have been used in the café and museum store. This increases our appeal to young people.
