BN'ers in the Shoe Quarter
With some regularity we may add shoes of Dutch celebrities to our collection. New are shoes from Youp van 't Hek, Samantha Steenwijk and Rutger van Barneveld.

YOUP VAN 'T HEK

Youp van 't Hek announced in 2021 that he will do a farewell tour of (almost) all the theaters where he has played in his long career. Last April, Youp performed in theater De Leest in Waalwijk. During a lightning visit to the Schoenenkwartier, which was not yet open at the time, he donated a purple All Stars to the museum collection. The pair is as we like to see them: well worn. The photo of Youp saying a fond farewell to his Converse sneakers is in any case a beautiful memento of the shoes he used on stage for so long.

SAMANTHA STEENWIJK

Samantha Steenwijk is a Dutch singer who became known for her participation in the TV shows Blood, Sweat and Tears and The Voice. She recently performed at the Schoenenkwartier during a company party of the Nijmegen company Nimco. After her performance, Samantha donated her ankle boots to the Schoenenkwartier.

RUTGER VAN BARNEVELD

Singer Rutger van Barneveld is also represented with a pair of shoes in the Shoe Quarter. The hand-painted blue shoes are an ode to his hits Helena 2.0. and Ik geloof in mij.

exhibition POYRS

Until February 5, 2023, the temporary exhibition Put On Your Red Shoes features shoes by world stars such as Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Madonna and Beyoncé. Of course there are also Dutch stars in this exhibition: Anouk, Armin van Buren and Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation will be making an appearance with their shoes.
