Fire at the old Shoe Museum

FIRE AT FORMER SHOE QUARTER SITE ON ALDER ROAD

On Monday, December 30, 2024, a fire broke out in the former location on the Elzenweg in Waalwijk. This striking building, which housed the Shoe Quarter for many years, was about to be demolished. The building, which evokes many fond memories for our volunteers, played an important role in the growth of our collection and our work toward the transition to our current, beautiful location.

Fortunately, we can confirm that the property was completely empty and that our entire collection is safely stored in other locations. As a result, there was no damage to the valuable objects.

The Shoe Quarter continues to work diligently to preserve and present our cultural heritage at our new location.
