STEP INTO THE WORLD OF THE SHOE

December 30, 2024 Late in the day, a fire broke out at our former, striking location on Elzenweg. The Schoenenkwartier at the Raadhuisplein in the center of Waalwijk, is open normally.

The Shoe Quarter will present at Dutch Design Week 2024 the Artists in Residence who stayed stayed and worked at the Bodehuisje.

The winning art play object behind eht Schoenenkwartier in Waalwijk is De Brug, designed by Gijs Assmann.

In two months, Fred de la Bretonière will turn eighty years old, but it certainly didn't show on Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Schoenenkwartier in Waalwijk. There he opened "Typically Fred," a retrospective exhibition that looks back on his successful career as a shoe and bag designer, amid great interest.

Nicole van Aarle is the fifth generation of the van Aarle's, and the first and only female clog maker. She displays this knowledge in the Shoe Quarter.

Festive summer months In honor of Shoe Quarter's 70th anniversary and Neskrid's 100th anniversary, the two companies have joined forces. Visitors to the museum can have a free foot and movement analysis and discover which soles they stand on more firmly.

Laurindo Andrea is a fashion designer, historian and owner of the socially social and avant-garde label LAURINDO LOVE.

Eighty years young Fred de la Bretonière turns eighty at the end of this year. For more than fifty years he has been at the forefront of Dutch shoe designers. That, of course, needs to be celebrated.

The Board of Supervisors of the Shoe Quarter announces the permanent appointment of Rinske Jurgens as chief executive officer effective June 1, 2024.

How special it was! We look back on Her Majesty Queen Máxima's working visit to the Shoe Quarter today. Museum Director Rinske Jurgens welcomed Queen Máxima and Mayor Sacha Ausems with a special program. Queen Máxima was given a tour of our exhibitions by volunteers.

The exhibition Trek the Bold opened swinging this weekend. This family exhibition is one that makes you think and wants to take you out of your comfort zone. After all, which shoes suit you?

We are particularly honored to announce that on Tuesday, April 23, Her Majesty Queen Máxima will visit the Shoe Quarter.
