Our attractive museum café is accessible during museum opening hours with or without a museum ticket. In the kiosk you have a view of the special architecture of the monumental Kropholler complex, in which the Shoe Quarter is located. Inside, you have a view of the upper and lower work labs where national and international makers and artists regularly work. Absolute eye-catchers of the café are the bar of hempcrete and the tile wall designed by Laura van Santen and made of residual clay and enamel by ceramic workshop Cor Unum from 's-Hertogenbosch.
In the café you can enjoy a fresh cup of fair trade coffee or tea and a delicious pastry. Our pastry assortment is provided by two local bakers: Partyvlaai and Van Tim patisserie. Among other things, Partyvlaai supplies the famous Halve Zool, a specially filled cake in the shape of half a shoe sole. Van Tim patisserie signs for 'het Waalwijkertje', a work of art with a puff pastry bottom and a creamy filling shaped after the Winterdijk that is located behind the Schoenenkwartier. Our beer also comes from a local supplier: Stadsbrouwerij Sint Crispijn. The brewery takes its name from the patron saint of tanners and shoemakers.
