Complete a group visit to the Shoe Quarter with a tour given by one of our enthusiastic volunteers.

We offer several tours by appointment:

General tour (1.5 hours - €90)
During this tour, along all 3 floors of the Shoe Quarter, the story of the Langstraat leather and shoe industry is told. On the first floor, after a brief introduction about the special building and the manufacturing labs, the story begins with the artisanal and industrial process of making shoes and leather. Sustainability and innovative new materials also pass in review here, including in the knowledge center on the second floor, seamlessly connecting past, present and future. On the second floor, the history of the Langstraat and the heyday of the shoe and leather industry are also briefly discussed. On the second floor, where an extensive collection of shoes is displayed and where there are also constantly changing exhibitions, the tour concludes with explanations and suggestions for discovering this floor yourself. A suitable tour for those who want to get acquainted with all the pillars of the Shoe Quarter.

Theme tours (1 hour - €80):

1. Guided tour of leather and shoe technology / Craft and innovation. During this guided tour only on the first floor, the story of the Langstraat leather and shoe industry is told on the basis of the craft and industrial process of making shoes and leather. Some historical machines are demonstrated during this process. Sustainability and innovative new materials pass in review, seamlessly connecting past, present and future. For those interested in crafts and technology definitely recommended.

2. Guided Tour History of the Langstraat Leather and Shoe Industry. This tour, across the second floor, begins with a brief general introduction about the building. It then discusses the history of Langstraat and the rise and heyday of the shoe and leather industry. After a period of decline, the Langstraat has managed to transform its activity well into a thriving logistics hotspot rooted in the same leather and shoe industry. Discover the surprising story. Definitely an interesting tour for those interested in history.

3. Guided tour Architecture of the Shoe Quarter(limited availability and not on Wednesdays)( 1 hour €80) This guided tour takes you along and through the extraordinary building that houses the Shoe Quarter. Be informed about the history of the Kropholler complex, the creation of the Schoenenkwartier with Civic Architects, discussing the use of sustainable materials and the sustainability of the building. This tour will also take place in part outdoors around the Kropholler Complex.

The group size for each tour is a maximum of 15 people. Above 15 people, the group will be split and an additional tour guide will be used. The price of the tour is in addition to the entrance fee. Guided tours are provided in Dutch as standard; English-language tours are possible.
