Nominated for the European Museum of the Year

Four Dutch museums nominated for European Museum of the Year Award 2024

The European Museum Forum has announced the nominees for the European Museum of the Year Award 2024. Among these nominees are four Dutch museums.

  • Media Museum Image & Sound, Hilversum
  • ARTIS-Groote Museum, Amsterdam
  • Schoenenkwartier, Waalwijk
  • Resistance Museum, Amsterdam

The winner of the EMYA 2024 will be announced at the annual EMYA conference to be held in Portimão, Portugal, from May 1 to 4, 2024.

The European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) is a prestigious prize awarded annually to museums that excel in their innovative approach, educational impact and social commitment. In doing so, the award not only recognizes artistic excellence, but also highlights the role of museums as drivers of social dialogue and cultural exchange within Europe and beyond.

Dutch museums have won the EMYA before. In the recent past, the Museum of the Mind (2022), Naturalis (2021), Rijksmuseum Boerhaave (2019) and the Rijksmuseum (2015) have been awarded this prize.
