On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May 2025, the Schoenenkwartier in Waalwijk will participate in the National Atelier Weekend. During this national event, studios and workshops throughout the Netherlands open their doors to the public. The Schoenenlab - the creative heart of the museum - is also freely accessible on those days.
The Schoenenlab is the place where craftsmanship, innovation and design come together. Here, makers and designers explore new materials and techniques, inspired by the rich collection and tradition of Brabant's leather and shoe industry. During the Rural Atelier Weekend, you get an exclusive look behind the scenes. Visitors discover how ideas come to life in shoes, installations and experimental prototypes.
