WORKING VISIT TO WAALWIJK CITY COUNCIL TO THE SHOE QUARTER

Heritage and innovation hand in hand

On Thursday, February 20, the Shoe Quarter hosted the Waalwijk City Council for an inspiring working visit. This interactive evening offered the council members a unique opportunity to learn about the value that the Shoe Quarter adds to the Waalwijk municipality and its residents. During the visit, council members discovered the educational programs offered, including workshops and exhibitions that appeal to both young and old. They saw the Shoe Lab in action, where innovation and technology come together to shape the future of the shoe industry.

They also talked about the special collaborations being established with artists in residence, interns and various partners from the leather and footwear industry. These collaborations create a dynamic and creative stage, combining the heritage of the Langstraat with modern technologies and future-oriented innovations for shoes. In this way, the Schoenenkwartier not only creates space for design and culture, but also builds a bridge between the rich heritage of the region and the opportunities of tomorrow.
The reaction of Ad van Belkom (first vice chairman of the City Council aptly summed up the visit: "My perspective of the museum has broadened. The Shoe Quarter is a central and connecting place in our municipality."

Thanks to the efforts of our passionate volunteers and staff, the evening was a great success. Their enthusiasm and dedication made it possible to share the story of the Shoe Quarter in an inspiring way. The personal story of the volunteers was also the focus of self-reliance.

Strong Shoe Quarter, Strong Waalwijk is not just a slogan, but a conviction put into daily practice. The Schoenenkwartier wants to show that it is proud of the past while focusing on the future.

In this aftermovie, relive the evening and see how the Shoe Quarter brings together heritage and innovation. Our volunteers and partners played an indispensable role-thanks to everyone who made this visit a success!
