The Schoenenkwartier is a place for everyone and where everyone is welcome: young and old, shoemaker and shoe wearer, from Waalwijk or far beyond! With Laurindo Love's project, the Schoenenkwartier brings a piece of the world to Waalwijk. Just like our shoes in the collection, which also come from all over the world.
Inspired by our world collection, Laurindo collaborated with the shoe lab to develop sandals for his blended outfits. It's a festive, colorful ensemble and on display for the first time at the Shoe Quarter this summer.
Laurindo is a fashion designer, historian and owner of the socially social and avant-garde label LAURINDO LOVE. Laurindo: "I see the outfits I present in the Shoe Quarter as resilient manifestations. This is how I try to achieve respect and empathy for other cultures and their dressing behaviors. With a clear link to the slavery past."
On August 10 and 11, 2024 , Laurindo Andrea will supervise a "customizing sandals" workshop in the Shoe Quarter.
This workshop is offered on the occasion of his fashion manifestation in the Schoenenkwartier on the impact of the slavery past on our daily lives. His fashion manifestation is titled "Behind the comma, a colonial tori embroiders on".
During this session, participants will learn how to add a personal touch to their sandals. Starting with a basic sandal, Laurindo will explain different techniques and materials as well as tips on how to decorate and customize your sandals. Bringing your own sandals is encouraged. This includes personal embellishments such as buttons or beads.
The workshop is suitable for anyone 14 years and older. At the end of the workshop, participants will take home their own personalized sandals. Don't miss this opportunity to learn something new and express your creativity under the guidance of an experienced professional!
