A dress made of seaweed. A creation made of orange peel. In the world of fashion artist Agnes van Dijk (1962, Geldrop) nothing is impossible. Flowers and nature are an obvious source of inspiration for her striking and spectacular fashion creations.

ABOUT: exhibition Agnes van Dijk

Her wearable artwork reflects a keen interest in art, culture, entertainment, nature and sustainability. A great creative ability is coupled with the technical skill to translate ideas into unique designs. The research and experimentation that precedes the making of a creation is crucial, because in it Agnes experiences the freedom of mind to think in an unlimited, transverse and connecting way.

In the context of sustainability, she explores how perishable materials can be made sustainable. This results in extraordinary creations made of, for example, tangerine peels, egg shells, cabbage leaves, orchids, fish skin and seaweed. Designs that last for years. They are thought-provoking and at the same time pleasing to the eye.
