ABOUT: Encounters in the lab

RODERICK PIETERS

is an all round shoe designer and the creator and developer of the Sneakerkit, a do-it-yourself kit: with this kit you buy soles in your size, with the necessary leather, the patterns +all the tools you need to assemble a pair of sneakers yourself. The Shoe Quarter organizes workshops led by Roderick to do this in 1 day. During the first month of Cutting Edges, Roderick is a guest at the Shoe Quarter and works 1 day a week in the Make Labs on a new version of this Sneakerkit, the Sneakerkit de Luxe. There is also a small exhibition of his other projects.

LISA VAN DER PLAETSE

is a 2022 graduate of the Willem de Koning Academy in Rotterdam: she works with digital tools and technologies such as Virtual Reality and 3D printing to create new silhouettes and unique shoe shapes. During the first month of Cutting Edges, Lisa will be a guest at the Bodehuisje and will take visitors into her Virtual World.

GABRIEL GIORDANO

Gabriel Giordano's shoe designs are experiments with materials and silhouettes. They arise through combinations of techniques and products from many areas of our culture. Stylistic aspects also slide over and into each other to achieve radical rethinking of what a shoe can be. During the first 2 months of Cutting Edges, Gabriel will "up-cycle" with goods sponsored by Het Goed, thrift stores.
